About the Workshop

Participants are welcome to work in any medium they wish. One may be a representational painter, non-objective or abstract. The principles of spatial structure, dynamic composition and the science of color are universal. Painting the undulating hills and mountains with its vineyards, olive groves and ancient medieval towns top upon hills will fuel our visions. Tuscany is a rich country with the ghosts of Celtic tribes, Etruscans, Romans, the birth of European painting, and the Great Renaissance. This follows introspection and gives direction to our work as we think with a brush. We will learn to create with the imagination and with courage. The impact of color and its endless rhythms from misty, dream-like to bright complementary statements depending on the sun will bring one’s creative power a place to rule.      Demonstrations, handouts, individual critiques and guidance will be provided. Lectures and discussions on some of the works of art in museums will be provided to help one to visualize and to understand what makes the work successful, or one that is not. Some of the artists to discuss will be Paolo Uccello, Artemisia Gentileschi, Leonardo Da Vinci, Cimabue, Della Francesca, and others. - See more at: http://www.theartstudentsleague.org/Workshops/TuscanyMay2016.aspx#sthash.w7OSMgAF.dpuf
